Just 70 kilometers from Pattaya, the bay of Rayong Province offers a gateway to the picturesque Samet Island. Named after the local tree whose bark has healing properties, Samet is part of the eponymous national park, considered a natural volcanic island. The beaches feature white sand that glistens beautifully under the sun. Main tourist activities include beach relaxation and water sports such as windsurfing and water skiing.
Daily boat trips to nearby small islands, snorkeling, diving sites, and night fishing are organized. Dive centers are available at Ao Wong Dtan Beach. The national park on Samet offers three paid hiking routes and several interesting temples. Popular beaches have massage services and salons along the main resort streets. Shopping is mostly limited to beach accessories. Bars and restaurants are plentiful in main resort areas, offering a wide selection of fresh seafood.
