Dragon’s Lair
Author’s mystical-adventure tour. *** Travel to less touristy places, authentic Thailand, spots usually not visited by foreign travelers. *** Two hours away from Pattaya, there is a very beautiful and mysterious Forest Monastery. The main temple is magnificent, built on an island in the middle of a forest lake in a valley surrounded by high hills. The monastery's territory is vast and divided into two parts: one inhabited by evil spirits, called Hell Territory, which leaves a shocking impression on visitors. The other part, equally interesting, is Paradise Territory where it is very beautiful and cozy. Between these areas lies a cascading waterfall and a chain of lakes with giant, meter-high water lilies - Victoria Amazonica. This place is the highlight of the excursion. *** After lunch, we visit a giant cave with the ominous name: “Gates of Hell”, where stalagmites formed by nature resemble the sculpture of Auguste Rodin, which he created over 37 years. And another huge grotto in a rock called “Dragon’s Lair”. *** An underground river, on which we will boat, leads us into a small “lost world”, surrounded by mountains and accessible only through caves. There are 5 caves here, of which we will visit 3. *** We will also sail on a boat along an underground river, have lunch at a Thai restaurant, and feed the monkeys.
